So we've started with the music, the amazing music of Louisiana. New Orleans Playground by Putumayo has been a big hit. We've been comparing French music to New Orleans style music. Many similar instruments. My hubby is loving the sound of the accordion. (and he is hoping to find one down there!) So far we've decided that if you were to mix blues, french and a splash of jazz music all together you would end up with the "New Orleans" sound. It's upbeat and fun to listen to. We're singing along in the car and dancing around the house. What fun!
We're all really excited about discovering the roots of the culture in the New Orleans area. The French inspired food, music, art and so much more. It's almost like moving to another country....
Speaking of Music & Art...
...a fun find on Etsy ~ this lovely and affordable little piece of art:
created by artist Steve Haskamp
The colors are great, I love it!
It makes me think of music being played to welcome the spring :)
If you click on the picture above you'll be taken to Steve's etsy shop, Pictorial Bloom, which has lots of other really wonderful art. I also bought "Live Carefree" to put in Miss 6's Easter Basket. Such Lovely Inspiration :)
Happy Monday!
PS ~ (If you want to try out some new music for free, check out the selection at your local library. We've had really good luck finding music at ours.)
