Well, would you look at that. It's 9:30 pm. I'm just now downloading photos from the past two days.
I had wanted to share with you my newly finished knitted project, and ask you what you might suggest for the next cast on. But it's been raining buckets and buckets.... like serious flash flood warning sort of rain. So uhm, it's been kind of dark. Not really go outside and photograph my new hat sort of weather. Instead, you get this. What we did while the sky was falling (this is what my dad says when it's raining, the sky is falling).......
I cleaned out the freezer, taking note of what's in there. I have grand plans of a grocery budget challenge for February. I rendered lard (again).... which sounds kind of blah, I know. But in a crockpot, it's the easiest thing ever. For reals. I just wish I could trade a jar for a couple dozen homegrown eggs. Maybe some honey. Or make some soap with it! This is totally because my nose has been lost in this book. I'm dreaming of backyard coops and a fresh batch of chickens and gardens and bees and goats..... and did you know Welsummer's are excellent foragers and lay dark brown speckled eggs? I could keep going on this subject..... anyone else over excited about homesteading in suburbia?
I sewed a little. Getting closer to finishing a stack of 18 super cute little aprons. Do you see those little veggies? My boy is smitten. One of those is for him. I worked on some shop quilts too. I'm loving this and this fabric. I need some bits for my own stash.... in particular for my littlest bear cub. Quilts of 2013 are dancing in my head.....
The littlest girl worked on crocheting... which this mama knows nothing about. She did that... I sewed. We chatted as we worked. It was perfect.
And you know, it's still raining. (in case you were wondering)
Goodnight friends.... I'll see you tomorrow afternoon with a few links...
xo,
