I finished the quilting and sewed the binding on just before the NYC trip. As we chatted and drove I handstitched the top of the binding to the front of the quilt. We spent both nights drinking wine and laughing. And stitching. We got three quarters of it done over the weekend....
And then... determined to lay it over her while she slept... I finished it early this week. I should have been doing a dozen other things. Truly. But I'm glad I chose this.
The fabric is a mix of old, old, old Anna Maria Horner (good folks) and Heather Ross (Mendocino) from my stash. Perfectly complimenting one another.... as their lines often do. The backing is a twin sized flannel sheet. This was my friend's idea and it was a good one.
I want to tell you more.... but there is an empty suitcase looking at me and I really need to get packed for this trip. (Alaska.... little brother's wedding in 4 days... oh my!)
And now it's done. My first real quilt pattern. I goofed when cutting and had to add a chevron row. It's off centered and has a grey polka dot center for fun. And then I added the feathers for a bit of length. She loves it. That's the most important part of all....
Well, and that it's really, truly, finally done!
ps ~ thank you T for helping me finish this... love that we both put some time into it. xo~
